“The acoustic laboratory of the University of Maine (LAUM) associated with the CNRS, with 60 permanent researchers and forty doctoral students, is one of the largest laboratories in Europe in its field. With the technology transfer center of Le Mans (FTTC), the Technological Institute of musical professions (ITEMM), sound design option offered by the Graduate School of Fine Arts (ESBAM), training in acoustics taught at the National School of Engineers (Ensim) and the Faculty of Science and Technology, Le Mans has a ‘Le Mans acoustic “Institute at a top European and International level. Collaborations with various industrial sectors (aeronautics, shipbuilding, automotive, construction, energy …) are numerous. The new ties with the Jules Verne Technological Research Institute strengthens the national and international positioning of the institute “Le Mans acoustic”. Current research interests include materials, transducers, thermo-acoustics, acoustic flow, vibro-acoustics, and nondestructive testing. These are all areas where Le Mans is in the forefront.”
